Treatments

Marie Tarentino, a licensed Physical Therapist, has a holistic approach providing a variety of therapeutic treatments to support the needs of her clients within traditional practices.  Marie’s holistic approach includes Myofascial Release therapy, a gentle hands-on soft tissue technique, CranioSacral therapy, a non-invasive therapy to release restrictions within the body, Neural Manipulation a means to identify and treat our body’s communication pathways, Visceral Manipulation therapy that supports the healthy function of the viscera (your internal organs), SomataEmotional Release therapy, a holistic mind-body treatment that releases absorbed memories of past trauma and unresolved emotional experiences, along with Reiki, energy healing.  Each treatment performed is centered around reaching optimal health and well-being.

Treatment sessions will consist of a combination of manual therapy techniques to encourage the release of restrictions within the body, to maximize your healing experience and promote over-all well-being. A session may include a combination of gentle holistic non-invasive light touch therapies such as Myofascial Release, CranioSacral Therapy, Neural Manipulation, Visceral Manipulation, Somatoemotional Release, and other traditional physical therapy techniques, such as Integrative Dry Needling (IDM), cupping and soft tissue mobilization.

MYOFASCIAL RELEASE THERAPY (MFR)

Fascia is a continuous thin sheath of tissue encompassing every muscle, bone, nerve, artery and vein, as well as our internal organs, brain, and spinal cord.  It has an appearance similar to a spider’s web and is connected throughout the body without interruption, thus providing an entire body connection from head to toe.  The fascial restrictions or dysfunction can lead to symptoms such as increased pain, headaches, and loss of motion affecting our flexibility, stability, and decrease our tolerance to withstand stress in order to perform daily activities.

Myofascial Release Therapy is a gentle hands-on soft tissue technique for the treatment of fascial restrictions of muscle skeletal immobility and pain.  It involves applying gentle sustained pressure to release muscular shortness and tightness in order to restore motion and eliminate pain.  It improves blood and lymphatic circulation and stimulates the stretch in our muscles, providing healing with reduction of pain, helping our bodies to reach the goal of optimal health and well being.

CRANIO-SACRAL THERAPY (CST)

Our bodies encounter stresses and strains throughout the day.  These often cause our body’s tissue to tighten and disrupt different systems in our bodies such as our CranioSacral (CS) system, the flow of cerebral spinal fluid from our skull to our spine.  These disruptions to our system form tension around the brain and spinal cord, resulting in restrictions and creating a barrier to the health of our central nervous system.

CranioSacral Therapy  (CST) is a non-invasive, alternative therapy treatment that uses light-touch to locate and release such restrictions within the body.  CranioSacral therapy techniques help to release the stressors and strains deep within the body to relieve pain and dysfunction, ultimately improving the flow of the cerebral spinal fluid, in order for us to achieve optimal health and functional mobility.

VISCERAL MANIPULATION THERAPY

“The purpose of Visceral Manipulation is to recreate, harmonize and increased proprioceptive communication in the body to enhance its internal mechanism for better health.” – Jean-Pierre Barral, D.

Visceral Manipulation Therapy is a manual therapy consisting of gentle, specifically placed manual forces that encourage normal mobility, tone, and tissue motion of the viscera (our internal organs such as the stomach, intestines, kidneys, and liver ), and their connective tissue.  Our organs lose their normal motion when they become inflamed such as when there is an infection, trauma, poor diet, environmental toxins, and emotional stress.  Visceral manipulation is a gentle technique that will help in the body return to normal function, restoring better physiologic motion, which will in turn improve over-all well-being and optimal health.

NEURAL MANIPULATION THERAPY (NMT)

Our nervous system is made up of the brain, spinal cord and peripheral nerves.  The nervous system is our bodies communication pathway.  When our nervous system is not working properly, dysfunction and pain can occur.

Neural Manipulation: is a way to locate restrictions or dysfunction and their effects on the rest of the body.  The gentle-light touch therapy of NM techniques can help re-establish the communication pathways in the body, to help restore and improve over-all health and well-being.

SOMATO EMOTIONAL RELEASE (SER)

SomatoEmotional Release Therapy (SER) is a therapeutic process that helps release anything unresolved that keeps manifesting itself in our physical, mental, emotional and spiritual life. Memories of past trauma and unresolved emotional experiences can be “absorbed” by our tissue, hindering our ability to fully heal.  SomatoEmotional Release therapy is a holistic mind-body approach to help heal these residual effects from the mind, body, and spirit.  Through SomatoEmotional Release, you can gain insight as to how trauma and unresolved emotional experiences are influencing your physical and emotional health.  It helps to release emotions such as sadness, anger, depression, anxiety, and fear that you may have had buried within your body, working towards the goal to achieve the grace of ultimate healing.

Many times, the gentle non-invasive manual techniques of Myofascial Release, CranioSacral Therapy, Neural Manipulation, and Visceral Manipulation, facilitate a SomatoEmotional Release of the tissue memory in order for the greatest gift of healing to reach optimal health and well-being.

REIKI HEALING

Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation promoting healing. The word Reiki is made of two Japanese words - Rei which means "God's Wisdom or the Higher Power" and Ki which is "life force energy". Reiki is a healing technique based on the principle that the therapist can channel energy to the patient by means of touch, activating the natural healing processes of the patient's body and restore physical and emotional well-being.

INTEGRATIVE DRY NEEDLING (IDN)

Integrative Dry Needling is a highly effective form of Physical Therapy for the treatment of a multitude of musculoskeletal and neuromuscular conditions.  Unlike acupuncture (traditional Chinese medicine), IDN is based on neuroanatomy and modern scientific study of the musculoskeletal and neuromuscular systems.  The mechanical and neuromuscular effects of Integrative Dry Needling provides an environment that enhances the body’s ability to heal which ultimately reduces pain.

CUPPING

Cupping is an ancient form of alternative medicine to dispel stagnant blood and lymph to therefore improve qi flow and blood flow.  It is believed to promote the removal of harmful substances and toxins in the body to promote healing.   The technique consists of special cups being placed on your skin for a few minutes to create suction.  This suction creates a vacuum causing your skin to rise and redden as your blood vessels expand.  The cups can be left static  in place or dynamic by moving them along the skin such as for the purpose of a deep tissue massage for a muscle spasm.

Purpose: help with pain, inflammation , blood flow, relaxation and well-being, as a type of deep tissue massage.
